The Air Max 90, or Air Max III -when the original dropped they were just called ‘Air Max’- has seen countless re-issues over the past 30 years in a variety of colorway’s and materials but it always comes back to the OG color way’s like the laser blues. The first -or closest thing to a first- retro was back in 2007 as part of a JD Sports exclusive pack which included the OG Lime Spruce colorway. Unless you lived in Europe, had a European connect or were willing to dish out 3-400 USD they you were SOL in securing a pair. Three years later in 2010 Nike would finally give us a wider release for the laser blues but there was something off. Aside from the fact that they were missing the laser blue on the inside of the tongue the color had more of a green tint that irked many. By 2013 the laser blues had FINALLY come back with the proper laser blue behind the tongue but this time with a Vintage effect including pre yellowed midsoles that some loved and some hated. Fast forward 7 years later and Nike has finally issued the DEFINITIVE version of the Laser blue Air Max 90 or (Air Max III as they are calling now).
Nike has finally gotten the shade of the blue right, the shape of the shoe and toe box nearly dead on to the OG, the OG Nike hang tag and the original orange box with supposedly forefoot air. Retail for them is 140 USD and as of right now they are sitting in most sizes but I wouldn’t sleep to long. This is a release of epic proportions and while they are readily available now when they do indeed begin to disappear expect prices to skyrocket. Scroll through the pics below and then compare them with the original in the video below! Available now via NIKE.
