The Nike Air Max Plus is a historic shoe that has not only seen a continuous release since its initial 1998 drop -internationally- but that has gone on to engrain itself into the nooks and crannies of sneaker culture. This shoe inspired the name for the late great Crooked Tongues -a testament to the original releases tongue which never quite stayed straight-, graffiti that popped up on a subway train and who can forget the commercials with Jason Mews?
and adopted as the footwear of choice for gangs in Australia.
The original AM Plus would see me through my senior year of high school -the year they originally released- all the way to college graduation and beyond. I’ve declared the original release as one of if not THEE most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned and although the retro’s haven’t quite lived up to that hoopla they are still a beautiful site to behold. Thankfully, after a quiet retro in 2013 Nike has decided to bring back the Hyper blue for another go. Europe will get access to them first followed by a stateside release November 24th.
