By now you’ve seen countless photo’s of the Jordan 33
and read thousands of reactions. Recently WearTesters Founder NightWing did a review on them (a really good one) but there was one misconception -which he has since corrected- and that is the Jordan 33/Lebron 10 are the first Laceless basketball shoes – which is incorrect-.
The first laceless basketball shoe was the Puma Disc Weapon worn by Cedric Ceballos from 1991-27 years before this shoe was even a thought-.
While I’m sure the technology is much improved over PUMA’s pioneering shoe and that the Jordan 33 is much lighter and responsive the end result is somewhat the same as far as a lockdown fit without laces. With PUMA’s re-entry into the basketball market and the fact that they already have auto lacing tech (PUMA Autodisc) makes you wonder how PUMA let Nike beat them to the punch with the advancement of this laceless tech.
In addition Nightwing brought up a good point in that the ankle strap that finalizes the fit with a secure lock down is a lot like Ektio’s patented ankle support tech. In the end you’ll probably get a great functional end product in the Jordan 33 but is it all that ground breaking? Vote below!
