Christopher Rios aka Big Moon Dog aka Big Pun is a Hip Hop legend legend. Although his life was cut short at the age of 28 back in 2000 due to health issues his 1998 classic ‘Capital Punishment’ has lived on and continues to be regarded as one of the greatest Hip Hop albums ever created. Those that weren’t aren’t around to live through that albums release must also remember that not only is this a classic no skip album that stood out in a year that also saw albums like: ‘Its Dark & Hell Is Hot’, N.O.R.E. & Gangstarr’s Moment Of Truth to name a few but it was much needed on the heels of Biggies death the year before; New York needed this album and so did the entire industry. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Capital Punishment’ the Rios estate and Ewing Athletics have teamed up for a special Big Pun 33 Hi that takes inspiration from the album artwork.
To celebrate this historic albums release, re-release and this special shoe there will be a release event at BX Sports at 1574 Westchester Ave. Bronx, NY 10472 on 4/28 at 1PM where the shoe will be for sale along with music and food.
The store is located in Pun’s old stomping grounds of the Soundview section of the Bronx where Pun himself shopped. If you are in New York then this is an event you’ll want to be at.
