Retro gaming is -much to the dismay of early collectors- on fire right now. Common games CIB like Super Mario World for SNES for example can command prices in the range of 80-300 and of course we all know it gets MUCH crazier across all platforms. This leads us to today, a look at some jackets that might have been unattainable back in the day, wound up in some sort of thrift store and now are available for your buying pleasure. Check out 5 of the best vintage retro gaming jackets on eBay right now below.
Is it me or does Game Stop just not have the same appeal as FuncoLand did? Maybe its the memories of walking out with a price sheet that listed games that sell today for hundreds of dollars for maybe 50 bucks. Maybe its the memories of rows and rows and rows of Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Turbo Grafx 16 and SNES games lined up for sale on the low low. Whatever it is the now defunct FuncoLand holds a special place in the memories of gamers and this rare managers jacket would be a dope add to anyones collection.
Not much is known about this rare Play Station 1 jacket other than the fact that it brings to mind memories of old tech North Face jackets, rough 3 d graphics and of course warmth (yea, I said warmth). Cop now and stunt on your nephew, the PS4 Fan boy.
SEGA SONIC THE HEDGEHOG GAME OF THE YEAR 1991 VARSITY JACKET
I think these photo’s sum up exactly what this jacket is all about but just in case lets discuss this amongst ourselves. In 1991 Sonic The Hedgehog burst on to the scene for a summer that was one not to be forgotten. The anti-Mario, Sonic was something that well, Mario wasn’t. Sonic The Hedgehog went on to be named game of the year for 1991 and (according to the description) to celebrate, SEGA had these promo jackets issued to Staff/Crew Members. One of them was gifted to Michael Jackson and while the jacket in the listing wasn’t worn by Michael Jackson himself, its a rarity worthy of any collection nonetheless.
I remember seeing photo’s of this jacket in magazines as a kid. Something about the design of the jacket a long with the 80s graphics of Mario on the back scream grab the Power Glove and lets go set it on someone.
Ahhhh, another Nintendo gem. This great looking 80’s Nintendo Power jacket brings to mind days spent in arcades, hours on the Game Boy and of course months referencing back to your Nintendo Power.
