We all know is MJ is the G.O.A.T., but if for some reason you forgot (or thought someone else had taken his place in the history books) Jordan Brand is ready to teach. For spring 2016, Jordan Brand will be celebrating its namesake’s career highs by introducing three legacy shoe collections that pay homage to Michael Jordan’s moments of greatness as well as show off a much needed improvement to one of its most iconic models. Collections are as follows:
The poster collection, which includes a Jordan II “Wing It” (with a shape that is noticeably closer to the original and 1995 retro release (FINALLY) and a midsole closer to the OG (Shedding tears)) and a Jordan XII.
The Jordan II “Wing It” pays tribute to the brand’s ad campaign that coincided with the shoe’s original release in 1986. White, black and dark gray, the AJ II “Wing It” includes wings on the shoe’s heels and what looks like some very nice leather uppers. With a much better shape and overall look (expect these to be in high demand).
The Jordan XII (the brands historically indestructible but often overlooked shoe) “pulls inspiration from the iconic “The Master” poster. A black base grounds the shoe, while hints of white and gold play off the poster’s radiant lines.”
The Alternate collection pays tribute to days gone by where Michael Jordan shocked the world by unveiling exclusive colored-up performance footwear on the hardwood (the likes of which had never been seen before).
Currently, these shoes in these colorway’s can only be found as player exclusives, but come Spring 2016 that’s about to change (waits for everyone holding these PE’s (or anything close to them) to dump them off on eBay with the quickness).
Last but not least, the Dunk from Above Collection which is inspired by “Michael Jordan’s relentless ability to take flight”. The collection incorporates colorways and materials that support the seasonal theme of soar.
Consensus has these as the weakest pack of the bunch thus far, but things tend to change as release dates near.
The Air Jordan 1 Nouveau (quite possibly the best shoe in this pack) is the first shoe in the Jordan Brand franchise to include the Wings logo with this release featuring a classic flat leather finish and a color shifting Nike Swoosh inspired by aviator goggles.
The Air Jordan IV, (which Jordan Brands describes as a shoe that “introduced the word ‘Flight’ onto a basketball shoe but is ultimately one of the companies most iconic designs PERIOD), features an inner label with a midnight navy and metallic gold design and a late 90’s Eastbay Catalog Fall vibe to it.
Last but not least is the Air Jordan V Low with a similar color theme featuring metallic gold accents and ice outsole and nods to the idea of flight by taking design cues from a World-war II fighter plane.
