Its been 23 years since the Gel Sight last hit store shelves and Asics has teamed up with Ronnie Fieg to kick start the shoes release. Following last week’s in-store only release at the KITH West Pop-Up in Venice, CA, the all-new Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Sight – “Atlantic” and “Pacific” arrives back on the East Coast.
The “Atlantic” and “Pacific” represent the two themes of KITH’s latest release – the West Coast Project. The “Atlantic” pays tribute to KITH’s New York City roots, as its color palette and material composition are meant to embody the dark cold nature of the Atlantic Ocean. The upper is made from dark navy microperforated pigskin suede and features lighter aqua nubuck hits. The formstripes are tonal 3M for a subtle yet strong accent. The GEL-cushioned midsole is white and speckled, while the wind-up heel stabilizer is a bright Carolina blue with custom-molded “Just Us”-text. The “Pacific” plays the opposite, paying homage to the cultural epicenter across the country – Los Angeles. This version features a sand microperforated nubuck upper as an ode to LA’s sandy beaches and sunny boardwalks. Moving from the Carolina blue heel panel to the waxed leather quarter panels, the aqua nubuck formstripes resemble a wave crashing into shore. Each model is accompanied by three sets of 3M-woven flat laces, and feature “Ronnie Fieg” custom-printed insoles, as well as debossed KITH logos on the heel wraps. An additional set of French terry sock-liners are included for comfortable barefoot-wear, playing into the coastal theme and both are set to release Friday February 27 at 11 AM EST at KITHs Manhattan and Brooklyn location as well as online at KithNYC.com
