Welcome back! For part 10 we took a look back at Retrokid.com and Jumpmanst, for part 11 we go back to Japan with Kazu’s Favorite Nike Plus page.
Created in 1996 (the Reasonable Doubt era) Kazu’s Favorite Nike Plus was a page filled with a variety of Nike heat and included reviews at the opinion of the individual behind the page.
What stood out to me about Kazu’s site were the rarities and quality of Nike footwear in this individuals collection. Sneakers like the highly sought after OG Nike Air Jordan XIII sample
fresh OG Nike Air Jordan IV’s
OG Nike Air Jordan II’s (Made in Italy) in the box?! Yes.
OG Nike Air Jordan V’s in black/silver
OG Nike Air Jordan V’s in grape teal
Nike Air Jordan VI carmines
the list goes on and on as far as vintage sneakers go but it didn’t end there. His taste was real good and Kazu was just as up on the latest footwear of the day as he was on yester years heat. Sneakers like the Nike Air Max Plus, Foamposite and Jordan XIV among others made appearances.
What was even better was the balance of running shoes and basketball shoes (a balance Kazu maintained very well) and then there was the page dedicated to Scottie Pippens kicks.
As an instrumental part of the bulls dynasty of the 90’s he chose to show love to the man that helped bring MJ to greatness and for that (especially from someone overeseas) you have to give just a little bit of props.
Kazu’s Nike Plus page would eventually evolve to include sneaker for sale but today it is long gone. What we are left with is this individuals impeccable taste and the remnants of their pioneering love for sneakers before it was the IT thing to do.
