While the 2014 Jordan Flight Runner is being touted as Brand Jordan’s first running shoe lets not forget that the brands heritage includes the Trunner, a shoe that was labled cross training but that many used to run in as well. Its a big leap for a brand built on the back of a basketball player but a leap that makes sense. As a basketball player you’re constantly RUNNING, not just during games or practices, but usually in the offseason and so it makes perfect sense. Although there’s nothing we can tell you right now as far as fit and comfort go, Brand Jordan is still a subsidiary of Nike and so you can probably expect Nike quality, fit, and finish. According to Nike, this shoe “features an advanced heat-and-pressure fusion process — creating a strong, exceptionally lightweight bond.” There’s “fused mesh in the forefoot which provides ventilation, while the welded shroud creates a sleek, streamlined look. With an emphasis on heel support and responsive cushioning, the Jordan Flight Runner helps keep the foot in place upon landing and provides comfortable stability for bigger, stronger athletes.” Appearance wise the shoe is visually pleasing and brings to mind memories of the Nike Air Zoom LWP for which it mildly resembles. Since this is such a monumental step for the brand I would expect availability to be somewhat abundant. MSRP is a reasonable $110.00 and the release date is scheduled for 5/1/2014. Via NIKE, Inc.
