Nineteen ninety nine into 2000 was a special time for sneaker collectors, lovers, heads whatever you want to call us. During this time we were still receiving awesome retros that were true to the original and very comfy, shoes like the Air max 95, Jordan IV’s, V’s, VI’s etc. it was just common and we didn’t think anything of it. OG everything was plentiful and in many cases still wearable. To put things in perspective, you could still go into a local mom and pop store and find Jordan’s from the late 80’s. Converse was still manufacturing the All Star in the USA, Brand Jordan was still in its infancy and pumping out quality non synthetic kicks (I know I know they perform better today, won’t debate that). Adidas was making noise with the Feet You Wear campaign and you could still score a highly sought after retro deeply discounted in full size runs months after its initial release. It was during this time that the Nike Air Max Deluxe dropped. Truth be told, like many awesome in your face sneakers from that era they didn’t fly off the shelves. With competition like the Nike Air Max Plus the deluxe wasn’t usually the first choice but that doesn’t take away the fact that this release is a timeless classic thats today sought after and in need of a retro. The shoes futuristic design, beautiful color blocking and comfort keep this one to add to your vintage shopping list. Today, prices range anywhere from 150-250 for new pairs in very good condition. As far as sizing goes your best bet is to go with whatever you wear in the Air Max 90, 95, 97 etc. as these run snug. Ready to pull the trigger and pick up a pair? As of now your best bet is eBay, happy hunting.
