Last year I had the pleasure of interviewing Gary Gagnon and talk about his company Re-mixx aka Re-Kixx which boasted 100% recyclable sneakers. At that time they were the first on the block to boast 100% recyclability and the sneakers themselves were straightforward and non technical (casual sneakers). Only a few months ago I brought up the topic of a 100% recyclable technical sneaker with Adidas’s Steven Smith, a veteran in the industry and he admitted it was something the industry was researching but not something easily executed for a technical shoe. Which brings us to today, a brand called Crosskix. According to the Crosskix Kickstarter page this is a project that they began 4 years ago. Crosskix are made of EVA and feature dual density construction for increased flexibility, the ability to be worn in water with specially designed air and water drain holes, are anti-microbial and odor resistant, 100% recyclable and come with a 5 year guarantee.
Unlike other EVA shoes such as Crocs and Native footwear (which were not designed more so for casual use) you can actually go running in Crosskix.
