Most know Steve Madden for his footwear, but since he launched the brand in 1990 music has been one of his muses and a natural extension of his inspiration. Its because of this that he launched a music initiative called Steve Madden Music. The brand has partnered with acts like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Jason Derulo to name a few. Well, On Tuesday, September 18, recording artist, NEON TREES (whom opened for The Killers, Flaming Lips, Duran Duran, and My Chemical Romance among others and who will be touring with Maroon 5 Summer 2013), and STEVE MADDEN joined forces to put a close on the STEVE MADDEN MUSIC 2012 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES. The Mercury Records recording artists performed at the downtown spot, The Wooly in NYC.
Despite the torrential downpour, fans arrived amped up for a private performance from the Provo, Utah natives and the four-member band (drummer, Elaine Bradley on maternity leave) performed new music from their album, “Picture Show.” To kick things off the band sang their rock hit, “Animal,” from their second album, “Habits”. Their set had attendees going wild while closing the night on a high note with their summer hit, “Everybody Talks.”
The CW’s, “The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep” host, ALLISON HAGENDORF, served as host for the evening as industry influencers and insiders enjoyed a menu of cocktails courtesy of Tito’s Vodka, from fresh cucumber and ginger beer concoctions. Guests jumped into the photo booth to pose with friends for snapshots that were posted directly on their Facebook pages while DJ KALKUTTA spun an electric set until 1 a.m. to celebrate the concert series’ end and to close out one hell of a night.
