Founded by Gerard Murray in 1992, School of Hard Knocks went from side business to $27 Million dollars in sales for 2001 after linking up with Nesi Apparel Group Inc., (a licensing and manufacturing company). By 2002 the brand was in over 3000 stores nationwide and sported by youth everywhere but trouble hit the brand when in 2006 Target started producing shirts with the same School of Hard Knocks name emblazoned across some of their t shirts. Target was eventually sued (read the case here) but it appears that the brand never regained the popularity it once had (at least not in the United States).
