In 1994, Converse,Vans, & Puma were the footwear of choice. Vans was big in the grunge skate scene (which was big at the time), Puma the Hip Hop & Skate Scene, and Converse every scene. There are two reasons Converse has been around since 1917: first, these Canvas shoes have embedded themselves in the lives of just about every subculture. From the West Coast Khaki wearing gang member to the New York City blazer and jean wearing hipster and everything in between the shoe fits right in. Second, Converse’s ability to take a nearly 100 year old design and reinvent it in the public’s mind, staying relevant and cutting edge is nothing short of magical.
