Ok had this posted up before, but I have some bonus stuff to show you guys. For those of you that don’t know about this event this was a pivotal moment in “sneaker culture” history. In August of 2003 Mr Adam Leaventon AKA “Air Rev”, Stash, WANEONE, KEL1ST, Bobbito Garcia, DJ Emz, and DJ Mighty Mi (for anyone I’m leaving out I apologize) put together a night of rare sneakers, good music, break dancing, Art, and most importantly PEACE. In NY there’s usually one knuckle head that has to ruin a good time, but not this summer night. I recall Alex aka Retrokid showing up in some OG 1989 Fire red IV’s looking crisp ( I couldn’t believe this guy actually had a wearable pair, they were amazing) Just blaze showed up later in the night, previews of shoes to drop the following year were in display cases, Bobbito was signing copies of his book just a real good night. This of course was in the wake of what would turn into a bunch of kids coming on the forums and pretending to be experts and die hard enthusiasts, release after release of gimmick shoes and fusions, and then the overall decline in the quality of shoes themselves. Wow, time really does fly, the seven year anniversary will be this year (just think how much has changed in 7 years). Anyhow, below are pictures from that great night in August of 2003, pictures of the shirt that was sold, a free magazine give away with a little article about Air Rev, and of course pictures from the event itself. Enjoy 🙂
