The year 2003 was a good one, especially for air max lovers. You see, this was the year Nike decided to release the infrared air max 90 large air units and all. One problem, they did not release in the United States. Solution, ebay. There were two places in Manhattan that were carrying them (one of them I remember being Prohibit) as well. The day I received my pair in the mail I was in awe, immediately throwing them on and wearing them to my marketing class that day. Well, I wore them into the ground for the next 2 years and NO ONE, I mean NO ONE paid any attention to them. What transpired between 2005 and 2006 to make these such an in demand shoe no one knows. The HOA release sold relatively well but lingered on shelves for months. Anyhow, the 2003 release was much lighter, comfortable and better looking than any of the releases to follow. One thing they didn’t get right on the 2003 release was the tongue, it should have been nylon not mesh. Below are pictures of the 2003 version from the DeFY. New York Photo vault enjoy
