1988. Solo flights, Air Force III’s, and Air Max’s were big that year but non bigger than the Air Jordan III. This is the first Air Jordan with visible air and the Logo synonymous with Jordan Brand (Jumpman logo). The shoe featured nice tumbled leather, visible air, a plastic heal tab and cement print around the toe and heal area. Retail price in 1988 was 99.99. They fit true to size, and wearable pairs are next to impossible to find due to the fact that like many sneakers made earlier on, polyurethane foam midsoles were used which over time tend to dry out and become brittle which leads to cracking. These were brought back in 2006 but it was sad to say the least. The heal tab seems to have shrunk, the cement print was made darker, the leather used was inferior to the Original’s and gone was “Nike Air” on the back. Now I hate to sound like a broken record, but if they could retro the IV’s in 99, V’s and VI’s in 2000 with “Nike Air” on the back there was no reason they shouldn’t have done so with these. Anyhow, below are pictures from the DeFY. New York Photo Vault enjoy 🙂
